In 2006, we sold our home in Florida to pursue our dream of living in the mountains. We took a binder of 13 states with properties we thought might work & embarked on a road trip. When we got to Braxton County we found our little piece of almost heaven & purchased 33 acres in Burnsville, West Virginia. The land runs along the Little Kanawha River, and extends up over the ridge line, nestled in the nook of the hill.
About 4 acres of land is cleared with a small orchard, gardens, lavender, Olde English Southdown Babydoll sheep, Blue Swedish ducks and Cochin chickens. We live in our little cottage along with our Havanese. The rest of the acreage is wooded. There's still much to do & learn as we walk through the realities of living out our dream.
